林醫生由香港大學畢業並取得John Anderson Gray Medal，目前是賢德醫療的主席及香港心磁的首席醫療顧問。他曾於香港威爾斯親王醫院及英國倫敦皇家布朗普頓醫院 (Royal Brompton Hospital) 接受心臟科的訓練。他在2011年取得醫學博士的榮譽。

他是亞州負責培訓複雜心血管介入治療的導師之一，曾在亞太及歐美多個大型國際會議現場作手術演示，特別是左心耳封堵手術(left atrial appendage occlusion, LAAO)及經導管微創主動脈瓣植入術(Trans-catheter aortic valvular implantation, TAVI)。

他也是香港先天性及結構性心臟病學會 (Hong Kong Society of Congenital and Structural Heart Disease)的創辦人之一，並且是數個國際左心耳封堵手術工作坊及結構性心臟病研討會的項目主管。他曾在香港中文大學擔任副教授，現為International Journal of Cardiology的副編輯。他曾於各大國際期刊內出版超過250學術文獻。

他的研究範籌及專長包括先進心血管影像(四維心臟超聲波以檢查心臟衰竭及先天性心臟病)、冠心病介入治療(全吸收式生物血管模架植入術)、心房顫動及複雜結構性心臟病治療(左心耳封堵手術、經導管微創主動脈瓣植入術、腎血管神經阻斷術、微創心瓣修補手術)、以及因心臟突然猝死、心跳過慢及心臟衰竭而安裝心臟起摶器及除顫器等。

此外，林醫生亦是上海同濟大學的客席教授，及數間國際心臟儀器公司的顧問(Boston Scientific, St Jude Medical, Lifetech Scientific, Venus Medtech and Microport)，以及本港數間公立醫院的榮譽副顧問醫生。
